A rundown, ex-department store, Kensington Market (London) gave all sorts of young, independent designers and entrepreneurs a chance to appeal to a particular style niche. Like a set which should have been in Blade Runner, Ken Market juxtaposed all sorts of different styles of dress, adornment and music into one building. If someone had had the foresight to buy one garment from each stall that collection would give a splendid history of British streetstyle. There is an enthusiastic FB page for Ken Market. Probably 1981.
