Uncle Doug's Gas Station - [earlier scan]

The corner of Corlies Ave (Highway 33) and South Main Street was once the location of 'the shack' where my father and his brother grew up. When this was sold and the family moved a bit upmarket to 9th Ave, Neptune City, the site became my father's brother's very handsome gas station: a pit where 'grease monkies' worked under cars, a classic coke machine into which you fed a thin dime, shiny convertables suitable for rock n roll songs drawing attention on the corner, calenders with sexy, bathing-suited dames, my father convinced that his brother was 'robbing' him on a car repair.
